What impresses your clients most: You and your staff telling them your company’s work is great, or a national panel of experts?

If your projects appeal to the mature market with designs that showcase innovation, pick up on emerging trends and demonstrate quality, it’s time to get the recognition you deserve by entering the .

The industry’s only national program honoring excellence in building design, lifestyle and marketing in housing that appeals to the mature adult, the awards also honor individual success by highlighting two members – Builder of the Year and Associate of the Year.

Those aren’t the only changes this year. “We have simplified the categories, focusing on the information and examples that reflect the activities in today’s market,” said Steve Moore, chair of the 55+ Housing Awards subcommittee. “We expanded the interior design categories, knowing that interior design is popular with builders, designers and consumers.”

Square-footage categories have been tweaked to more closely reflect what’s being sold in the 55+ sector, and individual categories have been regrouped to better represent the way the industry looks at a 55+ product. They are:

  • Architectural Design
  • Interior Design
  • Marketing
  • Lifestyle

“This should make it easier for firms to determine into which categories their entries will fit,” said Moore.

Best of all, it’s less expensive to enter this year:

  • 55+ Housing Industry Council members: $300 per application
  • NAHB members: $325 per application
  • Non-members: $350 per application

If you’re an NAHB member, you can  online and get discounted entry fees right away.

The application deadline is Aug. 15.

Winners receive nationwide recognition in consumer-focused and business-to-business publications and are recognized at a special ceremony during the .
